Rods rested high or low ?

I like to have them low to keep everything pinned down and not to spook fish, but is it better to have the rod high to get the line up off the bottom asap ? Your opinions plz

if im on big rivers with alot of flow i keep the rod tip high to keep as much of the line out of the water as possible. i normally use long hook lengths in these situations to avoid line bites..... (i...

On the thames, its virtually impossible to have your rods up in the air, boats, swans etc dont allow it. I now fish with my rods tips near the surface and I dont seem to have a problem at the moment,...

I do both, depends on swim etc. On the Dove recently I had the rod high in the air and suddenly from around the bend a swan appeared, went right through the line and dragged the rod into mid-river....

I find quite a lot of swims contain too much bankside vegetation to have the rods low but if I could get away with it I would. I use backleads anyway so line angle doesn't generally concern me too much

hi,thomo i dont fish the actuall swims as such,to me a swim is where the barbel are,most of the spots i fish are thick with bankside vegitation,you just need enough room to poke a rod through.derek.

Maybe so in some circumstances mate but many of my swims are lily lined and I don't want to end up with my line wrapped around that lot with a barbel going nuts on the other end. Besides, its ok...

I'm not in the least surprised mate, when we drag the weed out of my syndicate the carp get in there straight away
